§ 76. Mr. Liptonasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many cells in Brixton Prison are occupied by prisoners on remand and under sentence, respectively; and how many prisoners are on remand and under sentence, respectively.
§ Mr. Maudling476 cells are available for unconvicted prisoners, 70 for convicted prisoners awaiting sentence, and 60 for sentenced prisoners. In addition there is hospital accommodation for 100 prisoners. On 12th May there were 684 unconvicted prisoners in Brixton, 106 convicted prisoners awaiting sentence, and 158 sentenced prisoners.
