HC Deb 09 May 1972 vol 836 cc306-7W
50. Mr. Selwyn Gummer

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will seek powers to prevent British abortion clinics placing abroad advertisements for clients.

Sir K. Joseph

I already obtain assurances from approved nursing homes that they will not advertise abroad. A breach of this assurance by a nursing home would cause me to consider whether my approval should be continued. I have no plans to introduce any legislation on abortion in advance of the report of the Lane Committee and the reaching of conclusions upon it.
