Mr. Ewing

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many beds are allocated for use by private patients in Stirling Royal Infirmary and Falkirk Royal Infirmary, respectively; and what proportion of the beds is used for surgical patients and what proportion is used for non-surgical patients.

Mr. Gordon Campbell:

Stirling Royal Infirmary is authorised to admit two private patients at a time and Falkirk Royal Infirmary one. Private patients may be admitted for any treatment which can be given at the hospital, and may be accommodated in any suitable bed.
