HC Deb 01 May 1972 vol 836 cc25-6W
68. Mr. Shore

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how many United Kingdom citizens were employed in each of the countries of the Common Market at the latest convenient date, and in the same months of the preceding five years.

Mr. Rippon:

Neither Her Majesty's Government nor the Commission maintain records of United Kingdom citizens employed by the several countries of the European Community.

Despite the fact that some Community countries maintain statistics of foreign workers or of the granting of work permits to foreigners, there is no uniformity of practice and I have nothing to add to the reply given by my hon. Friend the Under-Secretary of State for Employment on 22nd July, 1971.—[Vol. 821, c. 328.]
