§ Mr. Peter Archer
asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many 55W reportable industrial injuries in the last period of 12 months for which figures are available were due to, or exacerbated by, the absence of safety clothing or personal equipment.
§ Mr. Dudley Smith
There were about 70,000 injuries to heads, eyes, hands and toes in 1971. There would certainly have been less damage if safety gear had always been worn, but how much less it is impossible to say.
