asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will issue appropriate general directions to see that nationalised industries give a higher priority to the employment problems of the regions when taking decisions on in vestment and rationalisation.

Subject to operational and commercial requirements the nationalised boards already take full account of regional considerations.
