§ Mr. Spearingasked the Prime Minister if he will state the number of congratulatory messages he has received up to midnight 25th January, 1972, from national Governments, other than members of or applicants to the European Economic Community concerning his signing the Treaty of Accession to the European Economic Community; and if he will place the texts of any such messages in the Library of the House of Commons.
§ The Prime MinisterI have received messages welcoming the progress made towards British membership of the European Community from a number of Heads of Commonwealth and foreign Governments, including the President of the United States and the Prime Ministers of Canada and Malaysia. It is not for me to distribute messages received from other Heads of Government.
