HC Deb 25 January 1972 vol 829 c375W
Mr. Pavitt

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is his estimate of the total amount spent on advertising for nurses in each of the last three years.

Mr. Alison

Expenditure by my Department on nursing and midwifery publicity was:

1968–69 180,350
1969–70 180,745
1970–71 229,418
Separate figures are not kept for such advertising by hospital authorities but a study carried out for the Committee on Nursing indicates that expenditure was about £700,000 in England and Wales in 1969–70.
