§ Mr. Tugendhatasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what was the percentage rate of increase and the actual rate of increase during 1971 of imports of cars manufactured abroad by foreign-owned companies with manufacturing subsidiaries in this country.
§ Mr. John DaviesThe number of new cars manufactured abroad by foreign-owned groups with manufacturing subsidaries in this country which were registered in the United Kingdom in January/November, 1971, was at least 30,000 (out of total car registrations of about 1.2 million), an increase of 21,000 or over 200 per cent. on the same period of 1970. These figures cover the major makes involved; other similar imports are believed to be small.
