§ Mr. van StraubenzeeStatistics about jobs taken outside teaching are not available, but the table below gives relevant information. The figures for men in line (3) and (4) include those dying, or retiring on health grounds; those going to teach in universities, independent schools or overseas; and those moving to educational administration or inspection. They, therefore, overstate the drain from education to other work. The corresponding figures for women would be dominated by wastage on marriage or childbearing.
