§ Mr. Martenasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what grants have been paid over the last 12 years to the College of Air Training, Hamble; for what purpose such grants have been made; and for how long it is proposed to continue them.
§ Mr. Anthony GrantThe College was set up under the joint sponsorship of the then Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, B.O.A.C. and B.E.A. to provide advanced education and training for intending pilots.
The following sums have been contributed to it by the Government.
These contributions were originally related to the number of students undergoing training at the College. The basis of the grant was, however, changed in 1970 and after existing commitments have been met it will run at £100,000 per annum until 1973 when it will be reviewed.
