§ Mr. G. Johnson SmithThe current rates of local overseas allowance in Hong Kong for soldiers, effective from March, 1971, include servant provision of £6.14 a week for corporals and below and £7.84 a week for sergeants and above.
Between 1964 and 1968 the corresponding rates were £3.70 and £4.07, respectively; and between 1968 and 1971, £3.58 and £4.12. Before 1964 the local allowance did not provide for servants, as they were employed directly by the Department.
