§ Q8. Mr. Carterasked the Prime Minister if it is his practice to pass letters addressed to him on unemployment to the Secretary of State for Employment.
§ The Prime MinisterYes, in appropriate cases. I receive about 100,000 letters a year, and can reply personally to only a limited number. The majority of the letters I have received on unemployment concern individual cases, and the most practical way of helping is to ask officials of the Department of Employment to investigate.
