§ Mr. Joel Barnettasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will seek the necessary powers to require non-profit companies to submit form P11D in respect of all employees and their expenses in the same manner as for other companies; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Patrick JenkinI have noted the hon. Member's suggestion.
§ Mr. Joel Barnettasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer, in view of the lack of information available to him on non-profit companies, if he will list the grounds on which he has refused to act on recommendations of the hon. and learned Member for Northwich (Sir J. Foster) in his reference to such companies in his report on Scientology.
§ Mr. Patrick JenkinAs I told the hon. Member in a reply on 25th January, I am not convinced that the law needs to be changed. The absence of statistics does not mean that claims to exemption on mutuality grounds are not closely scrutinised by the Inland Revenue. I cannot of course comment on the tax affairs of individual taxpayers.—[Vol. 829, c. 357.]
