§ 93. Mr. Barry Jonesasked the Secretary of State for Wales what is his estimate of the effect of the new criteria for whether or not derelict land justifies treatment in Wales; what reclamation will now become feasible in the East Flintshire constituency; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Peter ThomasThe revised criteria set out in Welsh Office circular 38/72 allow land which is neglected or unsightly, although not necessarily derelict, to be considered for grant-aided treatment. The increased acreage within this definition is not known. The new scheme applies only to development areas intermediate areas and derelict land clearance areas; and those parts of the East Flint-shire constituency falling within these categories will qualify for grant.
