§ Mr. DeanUp to 1st February over 10,000 claims to attendance allowance had been received in the Department's West Midlands Region, which includes Birmingham; of 9,400 which had been dealt with, 4,500 were initially allowed. Separate figures are not available relating to those claimants in the West Midlands Region who were found to satisfy the conditions for the allowance following an application for review.
