§ 67. Mr. Joel Barnett
asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will call for a report from the Chief Constable of Lancashire on the arrangements made for the working of the 999 system, in view of the case in Shaw brought to his attention by the hon. Member for Heywood and Royton.415W
§ Mr. Sharples
The chief constable regrets that, in response to an emergency call from Shaw, help was sent by mistake to a street of the same name in another place. This was an isolated instance and the chief constable is satisfied that the system normally works well.
