§ LORD KILBRACKEN
asked Her Majesty's Government: Whether they know who was responsible for causing the extensive bomb damage in the early hours of November 21 to the bridge at Aghalane, at the point where the approved road from Belturbet, Co. Cavan, to Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh, crosses the Border; whether they are aware that the consequential closing of the road is causing much inconvenience; what 1265WA steps they are taking, in view of the fact that the damage is a few yards North of the Border, to see that it is repaired; and what compensation will be paid in respect of damage done by flying debris to property in the Republic.
§ THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR NORTHERN IRELAND (LORD WINDLESHAM)
There is no information available about responsibility for the damage to the bridge. Its restoration involves a number of engineering, financial and other considerations which are being studied. There is no provision for compensation for damage caused by this explosion to property in the Republic.
