HC Deb 18 December 1972 vol 848 cc248-9W
42. Mr. Abse

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what study he has made of the effect on industrialists contemplating moving to Wales of expected gas supplies in 1975, 1976 and 1977; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Peter Thomas

No special study has been made. The industrial marketing policy of the Wales Gas Board has so far been highly successful but I am advised that further expansion will depend—as in the rest of the country—on how much gas becomes available from new discoveries.

44. Mr. Denzil Davies

asked the Secretary of State for Wales whether his Department will undertake a publicity campaign in the Common Market countries to persuade European industries to invest in Wales.

Mr. Peter Thomas

I think it preferable to concentrate on the continuing promotional work undertaken by firms, Government Departments and by the Development Corporation for Wales. I have every expectation that this will continue to be successful in bringing European firms to Wales.
