§ Mr. Peter ThomasThe Local Government Act 1972 provides that on 1st April 1974 the administrative counties of Wales and their councils will cease to exist. This need not, however, affect the continued use of the names of the existing geographic counties in many contexts where they may currently be employed e.g. in connection with sport or cultural activities.
