§ Mr. Thomas Coxasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he expects to announce his proposals for 485W increasing the number of junior custodial centres at which young people under the age of 14 years can be detained.
§ Mr. CarlisleMy right hon. Friend has no such proposals. Junior detention centres are provided for offenders between the ages of 14 and 17 and my right hon. Friend has no plans for making them available for younger children. The provision by local authorities of accomodation for children in their care is a matter for my right hon. Friends the Secretaries of State for Social Services and for Wales.
