HL Deb 11 August 1972 vol 334 c1580WA
VISCOUNT HANWORTH

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What percentage of traffic lights in Inner London are defective on average at any one time and therefore revert to fixed time intervals.

LORD SANDFORD

The precise information asked for is not available. Just under half the number of vehicle-actuated installations in the Inner London Area have at present reverted to fixed-time intervals as a result of defects. The arrangements for the repair and maintenance of traffic light signals generally are under review between the Department, the local authorities and the signal companies.
