asked the Minister of State for Defence (1) what work has been done on the development of a stun gun for use by the army for crowd control; and what safety tests have been performed;

(2) what work has been done on the development of anti-personnel nets for use by the army for crowd control; and what safety tests have been performed;

(3) what work has been done in the development of Mace for use by the army for crowd control; and what safety tests have been performed;

(4) what riot control agents other than stun guns, anti-personnel nets, Mace and those agents already in use have been developed or are under development for use by the army for crowd control; and what safety tests have been performed on each of them.

A number of safety and other tests have been carried out on a wide variety of different riot control equipments. It would not be appropriate to give details of equipments at present under consideration.
