asked the Secretary of State for the Environment is he will initiate discussions between the Metropolitan Police and the Greater London Council designed to ensure that large container and trailer lorries are admitted to the main stres f cnrleoetat to the main streets of central London and the West End only at hours other than the periods of greatest use.

The Greater London Council is already considering the problem of heavy lorries in London, in consultation with my Department.
