§ Mr. Dudley SmithAt April, 1972, there were 55,412 people registered as unemployed in Wales and 6,760 notified vacancies remained unfilled. Expressed as a proportion of the total number registered as unemployed, the vacancy figures was 12.2 per cent. The vacancy figure relates only to notified vacancies remaining unfilled and does not purport to measure the total unsatisfied demand for labour.
