HC Deb 20 April 1972 vol 835 c143W
Q8. Mr. John D. Grant

asked the Prime Minister if he will appoint a Minister with special responsibility for the co-ordination of assistance to old people.

Q9. Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Prime Minister if he will now appoint a Minister with special responsibility for the aged.

Mr. Maudling

I have been asked to reply.

No. Many of the services from which the elderly particularly benefit are also available to other sections of the community, and responsibility should rest with the Departments who have executive responsibility for these services. But all my right hon. Friends who are concerned with the needs of old people already work closely together.
