§ Mrs. ThatcherEvaluation of the "Hendon Arm", a powered upper limb prosthesis developed in the M.R.C. Powered Limbs Unit, is progressing under the aegis of an M.R.C. working party which hopes to present a full report to the Medical Research Council in the early 175W autumn of this year. Although the council agreed in 1971 that the Powered Limbs Unit should be disbanded and this will take place on 30th June, 1972, a programme of research on splints and other devices will subsequently be carried out by some of the unit staff at the Clinical Research Centre at Northwick Park, and other studies on E.M.G. sensors are being pursued at the M.R.C. Neurological Prosthesis Unit.
