§ Mr. Alec Jonesasked the Secretary State for Wales if he will publish a table showing the numbers of Welsh primary schoolchildren in each local education authority in Wales, and the numbers of such children who have been certified as being in need of free school milk.
§ Mr. Peter ThomasThe number of children on roll in maintained primary schools in Wales in January, 1971, the most recent date for which information is available, was 302,979 comprised as follows:
Anglesey 6,700 Breconshire 5,710 Caernarvonshire 12,182 Cardiganshire 5,365 Carmarthenshire 16,449 Denbighshire 19,138 Flintshire 20,945 Glamorgan 86,524 Merioneth 3,637 Monmouthshire 41,054 Montgomeryshire 4,518 Pembrokeshire 11,037 Radnorshire 1,917 Cardiff 30,019 Merthyr Tydfil 5,936 Newport 13,478 Swansea 18,370 The number of children who have been certified as being in need of free school milk will not be known until the analysis of the Autumn Census returns relating to provision of milk and meals has been completed. Local education authorities have been asked to submit the returns by 1st November, 1971.
