Mr. Pavittasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will institute a committee of inquiry or a working party to make recommendations on the desirability of separating the specialty of obstetrics from that of gynaecology, to advise on practical measures to this end, and to consider associated organisational matters.
§ Sir K. JosephThe recognition of specialties is primarily a matter for the medical profession, in particular the Royal Colleges and similar bodies. It would not be appropriate for me to set up the type of inquiry suggested.
