§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department why, in view of the fact that the hon. Member for West Ham, North, wrote to him on 22nd September concerning the sending through the mail of obscene publications by the Earldene Press, by 10th November no reply had been sent to the hon. Member; and whether he will take the necessary action to hasten the various Departments connected with the judicial system within his responsibility in dealing with all matters connected therewith.
§ Mr. SharplesThe hon. Member wrote on 9th September. He was told on 22nd September that the Director of Public Prosecutions had been asked for advice. He was told on 22nd October that the Director's decision had not yet been received. I understand that the Director's inquiries have not yet been completed.
