HC Deb 16 November 1971 vol 826 cc85-6W
Mr. Michael Cocks

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what research has been done by Bristol University and the United Bristol Hospitals and communicated to his Department into the medical needs of the community in the Bristol clinical area, and how the needs may be met; and what information has been submitted to him as to when the research was undertaken and as to how many people were engaged on it, and for what length of time.

Mr. Alison

The United Bristol Hospitals have made a survey of the need for hospital beds which was based on the 1970 intake of patients and surveys of the location of accidents in the city in 1969 and 1970. The work was carried out by the hospitals' officers as part of their ordinary duties.
