§ Mr. Oswaldasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is his programme for acceleration of essential road works to provide employment during the winter period of 1971–72, throughout Scotland; and what is the sum allocated for that period for trunk road maintenance.
§ Mr. Gordon CampbellAs regards a possible programme of winter works, I96W would refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave to the hon. Members for South Ayrshire (Mr. Sillars) and Glasgow, Gorbals (Mr. McElhone) on 5th May. The supply estimates for 1971–72 allocate £3,457,000 for works expenditure on maintenance of motorways and trunk roads, but I cannot say how much of this will be spent during the winter period.—[Vol. 816, c. 1359–62.]
