§ Mr. Roy Hughesasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if she will discuss with the medical authorities the practicability of all medical students in England and Wales undergoing a six months' period of training in the accident and casualty departments of general 318W hospitals before they are finally registered as general practitioners.
§ Mrs. ThatcherThe education and training of medical students is the responsibility of the university medical schools, and the requirements for registration a matter for the General Medical Council. It would not be appropriate for me to intervene in a question of this kind.
