§ Mr. Tebbitasked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many building operatives are directly employed by regional hospital boards or hospital management committees; and what was their output during the year 1970–71 on new construction and maintenance work, respectively.
§ Mr. AlisonThe number of National Health Service building operatives in England (including foremen but excluding supervisory staff) at September, 1970, was about 9,800. The cost of work done by these staff is not separately available centrally, but they are engaged almost wholly on building maintenance work.
