HC Deb 10 May 1971 vol 817 c28W
88. Mr. Barry Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will list the number of outbreaks in Wales and in Flintshire of fowl pest in the recent outbreak to date; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Anthony Stodart

I have been asked to reply.

There have been 88 outbreaks of fowl pest in Wales since 26th October, 1970, and 17 of these were in Flintshire. By comparison with many other areas, therefore, the Principality has remained relatively free of disease. If this is to be maintained, it is essential that vaccination should be undertaken on the widest possible scale.
