HC Deb 04 May 1971 vol 816 c339W
Mr. Dodds-Parker

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether, in view of the fact that a manufacturer of rear markings for goods vehicles is not obliged, before marking the material with the British Standards number AU152 and selling it, to have it tested to ascertain that it complies with BS AU152; and what evidence he will require before he considers it necessary to amend the regulations to require that such rear markings are of a type for which a test certificate has been issued by the British Standards Institution or other designated organisation.

Mr. Eldon Griffiths

If evidence is provided that goods which do not comply with the British Standard are being sold with the mark BS AUI52 on them, my right hon. Friend will be prepared to consider whether an amendment to the Regulations is needed.
