HC Deb 03 May 1971 vol 816 c285W
Sir H. Harrison

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will announce target indicator prices for wheat and barley for the cereals years beginning 1st July, 1971.

Mr. Prior

For the cereals year beginning 1st July the target indicator prices for wheat and barley are determined as followsWheat £1.13 per cwt. (about 22s. 7d.) Barley £1.09 per cwt. (about 21s. 9½d.)

These prices are derived from the relevant minimum import prices by the deduction of amounts reflecting the variation in costs such as handling and transport applicable to home produced and imported wheat and barley. They are therefore the minimum prices which home producers collectively should be able to attain under stable market conditions.
