§ 34. Mr. Clinton Davisasked the Attorney-General if he will make a statement on the Government's attitude with regard to the Ormrod Report on legal education.
§ The Attorney-GeneralThe Ormrod Report has only just been published, and it raises questions for the legal profession and the universities and polytechnics as much as for the Government. Any statement would be premature until my noble and learned Friend has been able84W to consider the report in consultation with the various independent bodies concerned, which he is now in course of doing. However, I am glad to have an opportunity, on the Government's behalf, to thank Mr. Justice Ormrod and his colleagues for this excellent report, which lays down the general lines on which legal education can develop for many years ahead.
