asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is his policy with regard to the banks giving temporary additional facilities to overcome the problem resulting from the recent postal strike for those engaged in the tourist industry in Cornwall; and whether he will request the banks to consider any approaches for additional assistance in a favourable light subject to the normal commercial criteria.

The Police Council agreement for superintendents and chief superintendents is an integral part of the new structure of polio pay which is designed to reduce wastage of experienced men and to make promotion more worthwhile. Officers in these ranks do not qualify for overtime pay and even on the new pay scale many superintendents will still get less total pay than some of the officers under their command.
