Mr. Elystan Morgan

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what is the total number of National Health Service hospital beds in Wales at the present time; and what increase or decrease in this number is expected by the end of 1971.

Mr. Gibson-Watt

At 31st December, 1970, 26,179 beds were allocated for use in Wales. I am unable to forecast the number at the end of 1971.
