HC Deb 18 March 1971 vol 813 c396W
Q12. Mr. Carter

asked the Prime Minister if he will define the responsibilities of the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications.

The Prime Minister

The Minister of Posts and Telecommunications is responsible to Parliament for Government business relating to posts, telecommunications and broadcasting. This includes relations with foreign and Commonwealth countries in these spheres (in which he shares responsibility with my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs), the regulations of the use of radio, under the Wireless Telegraphy Acts, and a variety of statutory and other functions, especially in relation to the Post Office and the broadcasting authorities.
