HC Deb 17 March 1971 vol 813 c330W
Mr. Maclennan

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what acreage of forestry will be planted in each of the next five years in the seven crofting counties.

Mr. Gordon Campbell

The Forestry Commission is working to a programme of new planning of 19,000 acres a year in 1970–71 rising to 22,500 acres in 1974–75. The figures are given below:

Acres
1970–71 19,000
1971–72 20,500
1972–73 21,500
1973–74 22,500
1974–75 22,500

A similar forecast is not available for private planting, for which the current rate is about 9,000 acres a year.
