HC Deb 16 March 1971 vol 813 cc298-9W
Q23. Mr. Dormand

asked the Prime Minister what form, following his pledge to the President of the United States of America, will the British co-operation take in the international attempt to find a cure for cancer; and what funds will be made available for this purpose.

The Prime Minister

A member of the United States National Institute of Health will be seconded for some time to the headquarters of the Medical Research Council: and a senior member of the Medical Research Council staff will be visiting the International Agency for Research in Cancer, Lyons, as well as various centres including the National Institute for Health in the United States of America. I hope the result will be to strengthen the existing close collaboration between scientists in the cancer field.

The costs will be met from Medical Research Council funds.
