§ Mr. Gourlayasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what estimate he has made of the average weekly increase in council rents required for existing houses, on the basis that housing subsidies are abolished; and what is the estimated weekly increase required to offset the subsidy on houses under construction on 1st March, 1971, in the burghs of Burntisland, Kinghorn, and Buckhaven and Methil, respectively.
§ Mr. Gordon CampbellI would refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave the hon. Member for Dunfermline Burghs (Mr. Adam Hunter) on 1st March. The Government have no intention of abolishing housing subsidies. If the hon. Gentleman advocates abolishing them, perhaps he will write to me about his proposals. —[Vol. 812, c.372–3.]
