HC Deb 12 March 1971 vol 813 cc185-6W
Mr. Deakins

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will list the Statutes under which he is able to regulate the conditions of employment of homeworkers.

Mr. Dudley Smith

The statutes are the Wages Councils Act, 1959, under which minimum remuneration may be fixed for homeworkers, and the Factories Act, 1961, under Section 134 of which district councils may prevent work being given out if they consider the place where the work is to be done is harmful or dangerous to the health of those employed there.
