Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Prime Minister on what date he received a communication from Mr. Clive Jenkins, the General Secretary of the Association of Scientific, Technical and Managerial Staffs, concerning a Rolls-Royce/Lockheed plan; what was the nature of his reply; and whether he will make a statement.

The Prime Minister

I received the letter on 16th February, and asked my right hon. Friend the Minister of Aviation Supply to reply on my behalf. He wrote to Mr. Jenkins on 24th February, offering to discuss the RB211 and saying that the Association's views had been put to the assessors.
