HC Deb 29 June 1971 vol 820 cc67-8W
49. Mr. McNamara

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what discussions he has had with representatives of the British trawling industry with regard to Great Britain's possible entry into the European Economic Community; whether he will have discussions with representatives of the vessel owners and trade unions in the industry before the Ministerial conference on 12th July; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Prior

There have been frequent Ministerial and official contacts with the British Trawlers Federation and I hope to see them again before the next Ministerial conference. I have received no representations from trade unions about the implications for the trawling industry of joining the European Economic Community. But I will certainly give full consideration to any which may be made.
