§ Sir R. Turtonasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what were the retail prices of butter, fillet steak of beef, leg of lamb, margarine and camembert cheese per pound in London and Paris, respectively, on 1st June, 1971, or the nearest convenient date.
§ Mr. PriorComparisons for retail prices of certain foods in various European countries, based on official quotations, were given in my reply to the hon. Member for Cardigan (Mr. Elystan Morgan) on 30th April. These official sources are not in a form which permits accurate comparisons of prices to be made in respect of particular cuts of meat, in which practices vary greatly country by country, or in respect of a particular variety or quality of products such as margarine or cheese.—[Vol. 816, c.221–4.]
