§ Mr. Meacherasked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many persons 340W below pension age he estimates on the latest evidence have been sick for six months or more during an annual period but will not qualify for the 30p invalidity allowances proposed.
§ Mr. DeanThe invalidity allowance will be paid at rates of 60p and £1 as well as at 30p. We estimate that, after the transitional period, the number of persons in a year who will qualify for an invalidity pension will be about 200,000, some 30 per cent. of whom will not qualify for an invalidity allowance.
