§ Mr. Longdenasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what is the current rate of increase in borrowing by the British Steel Corporation and what is its outstanding indebtedness.
§ Mr. RidleyAt 31st March, 1971, the British Steel Corporation had borrowings of £231 million outstanding from the National Loans Fund and facilities for £135 million of temporary borrowing. Command 4635 anticipated further borrowings of £289 million from the N.L.F. during 1971–72; but my right hon. Friend expects to make a further statement on the Corporation's financial and development position soon.
